Exercise

Exercise is a powerful force in the weight control process. Studies show that when you exercise, metabolism increases and your heart rate improves. Walking one mile or about 15 minutes a day can help you burn 100 calories.

This simple step could determine whether or not you lose or gain weight. Since 3500 calories represent 1 pound of body weight, you could theoretically lose one pound a month if you did nothing but add 15 minutes of moderate exercise to your daily activities.

In itself, this might seem insignificant. But over the period of a year, that is 10 to 12 pounds. Giving up a soda, a handful of cookies or chips, or a tablespoon of butter could double the weight loss to over 20 pounds.

If you are not getting regular exercise, you will find it difficult to lose weight. You have to stay physically active to stay in a state of good health.
