Get Fit

Even if you have not been faithful to your diet, you can still get in shape and be the weight you want to be. The important thing is to get started.

There are people who, because of their genetic makeup, can do little to become a skinny model. And then there are those who can eat like a horse and still find it difficult to gain weight. So, understanding your genetic potential will help you set realistic goals and be accepting of who you are. In any case, you still need to focus on eating for good nutrition and better health.

Once you understand what your best weight is, you will need to create a plan that is just right for you. Then go about the business of doing what you need to do to achieve your weight goal.

Here are some things you need to do in order to you succeed.

Decide on your weight goal. Whether you need to lose five, ten, fifty or more pounds will depend on your present weight, your natural or genetic potential (as influenced by family trait), your health goals, and so forth. Be realistic about how fast you can lose the weight you want to lose.

Take stock of your eating and exercise habits. Keeping a food and exercise diary is the best way to get a handle on what's causing you to gain weight.

Identify sources of excess calories. Whether you are eating out often, grabbing greasy foods from fast food places, snacking on high calorie snacks, or simply eating larger portions than you need, finding the answer to your diet dilemma will help you make the right moves.

Commit to a diet improvement and exercise plan. A nutritionist or registered dietitian can help you develop a workable plan that is suited to your personal needs. The plan must be suited to your goals, lifestyle, economic condition, cultural and personal food preferences, other health conditions and medications that can affect your food intake and the way your body uses food.

Get in gear and start moving. Action is the key to success in life. As in any other aspect of your life, you have to take steps to get the results you seek. You are likely to find that your ability to control your weight is proportional to how much exercise you get. So, whether it is walking, exercising with your favorite TV fitness guru, cycling, swimming, dancing, or some other form of activity, you have to step to it.
